It has been our privilege to serve with her in the Kansas Wichita Mission in the great heartland of America. Sister Shumway has had many wonderful experiences, seen many miracles and been so blessed teaching and serving in her areas as a Junior Companion, Senior Companion and Trainer. Sept 25-oct 1 Inbox Lila Shumway Tue, Oct 3, 2023, 3:57 PM to me, Rick 09/25 Pday! Grocery shopping as usual. We went to the church building and made bracelets with Sister Wilkinson and sister rollins while the elders played basketball. We went to tropical smoothie Cafe and the post office. Then we went to the antique mall with Sister Anderson, Sister Bowen, and sister pehrson. Sister Taylor got some taylor swift stickers (she absolutely obsessed with Taylor swift), I got some cute rings, sister pehrson got a bracelet and a necklace, and sister bowen got a stuffed animal (sister bowen is so cute, she's 24 but has some mental handicaps I think). Sister anderson, sister bowen, and sister pehrson were all going to spend the night at our apartment (they live in Hiawatha and they don't want to drive so much because we have district council in the morning), ***so we gave them our apartment key***. Tuesday 09/19 We had a combined DCM with the Wakarusa district and the ZL and STLS. We played family fued district v district based on the scriptures, PMG, and church history! It was a lot of fun. Sister Taylor and I both had headaches afterwards though, but we still had our regular Tuesday lesson with Bob. We went with Sister streeter and gave a lesson about Christlike attributes and we studied patience! Bob asked us if we could give him Alease's number. Alease is another one of our friends who is preparing for baptism. And because I'm naive and haven't thought about dating or romance in a very long time, I assumed that he wanted to help her progress towards her baptism! I was wrong, I realized later that he was interested in her and wanted to ask her on a date... he is much older than alease and she is already dating Jacob rigg who is also a recent convert in the ward. They are running out of money and he needs to find something soon. Last night was the adult session. A couple things I was impressed with was when lazarath died Jesus did rush over and bless him. Sometimes blessing takes time. It took time for for the blessing to come. Jesus always doesn’t come right away. But he will come. They also said 3 things that parents need to do raising child these days. 1 love them unconditionally 2 live your covenants because your kids are watching. 3 I can’t remember the 3rd. I love you. Last Saturday was Bob's baptism! Everything was perfect, besides the water was wayyyy too hot haha! Bob definitely has a light about him now that he didn't have before. And the spirit is definitely talking to him and it's amazing! Here's a little story! So last pday, we thought that we would get more MSF (missionary funds for groceries and such) but we didn't! Sister taylor and I were dirt poor and we didn't have enough funds for groceries and we were just going to go hungry for the week. So we usually have lessons with Bob on Tuesdays. We show up to his apartment and he GOT US GROCERIES! Like literally two boxes FULL of canned goods, fresh fruit/veggies, dried pasta, and more! We hadn't told him that we didn't get groceries, he just had the feeling he needed ...
