UPDATES from kansas♡ Inbox Lila Shumway Mon, Mar 6, 5:02 PM to me Hey everyone! Here's a few highlights from the past few weeks in Hutchinson, Kansas! *I ate cow tongue tacos (they were actually really good, I highly recommend) *I chopped my hair off *we met Leon! We were visiting a member in our ward and we decided to knock on the blue house across the street! A man answered and he was so excited to see us. He lived in Utah 15 years ago and knew exactly who we were, and he wanted a Book of Mormon! A dilemma... he speaks mostly Spanish. So we gave him an El Libro De Mormon and now we're working on our spanish, haha pray for me because I don't know ANY Spanish! *we did so much service this week and it was so fun! Tuesday we did some heavy lifting hauling some tree branches around in someone's back yard. Wednesday we did service at the animal shelter and played with puppies! Friday we moved boxes to the basement for a sister in the ward. And we cleaned gutters! *I met a baby cow on somebody's porch haha. *I had an exchange with Sister Garrett (my trainer)! Sadly this is Sister Garrett's last transfer so I have to say goodbye today:( I found this poem this past week from a president monson talk titled "The Bridge Builder" and I LOVE IT! An old man, going a lone highway, Came at the evening, cold and gray, To a chasm, vast and deep and wide, Through which was flowing a sullen tide. The old man crossed in the twilight dim; The sullen stream had no fears for him; But he turned when safe on the other side And built a bridge to span the tide. “Old man,” said a fellow pilgrim near, “You are wasting strength with building here; Your journey will end with the ending day; You never again must pass this way; You have crossed the chasm, deep and wide— Why build you the bridge at the eventide?” The builder lifted his old gray head: “Good friend, in the path I have come,” he said, “There followeth after me today A youth whose feet must pass this way. This chasm that has been naught to me To that fair-haired youth may a pitfall be. He, too, must cross in the twilight dim; Good friend, I am building the bridge for him.” I love this poem and how it represents our Savior's sacrifice for us. He knows that this life can be a pitfall for us, but He has built a sure bridge!❤️❤️❤️ Xoxo Hermana Shumway;)
