CRAZY AWESOME MIRACLES! Inbox Lila Shumway Mon, Nov 21, 2022, 3:25 PM to me Hey everyone! This week was amazing! I am so thankful I was able to witness some miracles from God this week! Okay here we go! So we'll start with Monday. I had the feeling we should call brother and sister Martuscello, because I absolutely LOVE them! Brother Martuscello didn't pick up but that's okay (I promise this part is important later). Fast forward to Tuesday, Sister Briggs and I were out driving and we saw our friend Mallory on the side of the road walking her dog (Mallory is our amazing friend who is getting baptized either this week or next). It was definitely meant to be, so we parked our car and ran to catch up with Mallory. She tells us that she lost her job out of nowhere! But she's so faithful! She said she wasnt freaking out because she knows God has something better in store for her. Fast forward to Wednesday, brother Martuscello calls us back and asks if we know of anybody looking for a job!!! WHAT?! He said he's looking for a caretaker for his wife who is pretty physically disabled. Literally, the day before Mallory told us that she has some experience in nursing. SO we call Mallory and she takes the job! God is so good! BUT IT GETS BETTER! Fast forward to Thursday, Brother Martuscello calls us and tells us that Mallory is great and he's so thankful that she is taking care of his wife while he's at work. But Mallory mentioned to him that she would really love to have a dress to wear to church. So he asked us if we would be able to come shopping with him and Mallory the next day. So we ask Mallory if she'd be comfortable with that, and she said that it was her BIRTHDAY the next day! So we went shopping and got a whole bunch of stuff for Mallory to wear to church and Brother martuscello was so kind to pay for all of it! (It was also a miracle that we didn't die in brother Martuscello's rinky dinky old van on the free way that day lol). Okay, now flashback to Wednesday night. Another miracle! We were going over to the home of a family in our ward. They are going through a couple unimaginable hardships right now. So we were going over with the elders in our ward to give the father a blessing. The elders were on exchanges that day, but it was a miracle because the other set of elders were randomly knocking doors in the apartment complex that we were going to! So there were six of us missionaries going to visit this family, and there was stuff going on that all six of us really needed to be there! Please pray for my friend Tina! She's having a really hard time lately and her bird died this morning so she could really use prayers! I read a talk by president Boyd K Packer this week about repentance! "The Brilliant Morning of Forgiveness" here are some of my favorites! There are times you cannot mend that which you have broken. Perhaps the offense was long ago, or the injured refused your penance. Perhaps the damage was so severe that you cannot fix it no matter how desperately you want to. Your repentance cannot be accepted unless there is a restitution. If you cannot undo what you have done, you are trapped. It is easy to understand how helpless and hopeless you then feel and why you might want to give up, just as Alma did. The thought that rescued Alma, when he acted upon it, is this: Restoring what you cannot restore, healing the wound you cannot heal, fixing that which you broke and you cannot fix is the very purpose of the atonement of Christ. So many live with accusing guilt when relief is ever at hand. So many are like the immigrant woman who skimped and saved and deprived herself until, by selling all of her possessions, she bought a steerage-class ticket to America. She rationed out the meager provisions she was able to bring with her. Even so, they were gone early in the voyage. When others went for their meals, she stayed below deck—determined to suffer through it. Finally, on the last day, she must, she thought, afford one meal to give her strength for the journey yet ahead. When she asked what the meal would cost, she was told that all of the meals had been included in the price of her ticket. Anyways! I love the atonement of Jesus Christ and repentance is awesome! God has His hand in all our lives! And I love you all♡ Oh and it's my mom's birthday this week, so if you know her you should definitely shoot her a happy birthday text this Friday:) Xoxo Sister Shumway
