Comp study with a member of the seventy Inbox Lila Shumway Mon, Apr 17, 1:18 PM to me Hey everyone! I hope you had a great week! It was another great week here in Kansas! On tuesday, we had a mission tour, which basically means that a general authority took a tour of our mission and visited each zone! So we had Elder Ojideran come visit us (for reference, he gave the last prayer at General Conference). A few days before, our mission president, President Barr, asked sister Glass and I to come early and have a planning session and companion study with them! Haha we were pretty nervous, but we actually had a planning session and comp study with Sister Barr and Sister Ojideran. They basically just ended up talking to us, telling us stories, and bearing their testimonies to us haha. A fun little miracle from this week: Sister Glass and I were trying to find a member of our congregation who has not been to church in a long time and who we thought moved away (that's what our notes told us). We went to his address (we had to be careful though because Google maps was trying to take us to the wrong address). And we found him! AND IT WAS HIS BIRTHDAY! He was super happy and appreciative that we came to see him, he wanted to know where and when church was! We had some great lessons this week with our friends and some members of our congregation! Also! Our friend Mike came to church this week and he really liked it! Please pray for: ♡mildred: to find a better living situation ♡Heather & Jacob: to feel God's love and have a desire to begin the covenant path! ♡Mike: to read and gain a testimony of the Book of Mormon ♡maher: to read and gain a testimony of the Book of Mormon ♡Dianna: to calm her anxiety Some of my favorite words from our prophet in conference>> My dear brothers and sisters, how we treat each other really matters! How we speak to and about others at home, at church, at work, and online really matters. Today, I am asking us to interact with others in a higher, holier way. Please listen carefully. “If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy” that we can say about another person—whether to his face or behind her back—that should be our standard of communication. Another week in Kansas! Inbox Lila Shumway Attachments Mon, Oct 10, 2022, 3:12 PM to me Hey everyone! I LOVE KANSAS! this week had its ups and downs, but it was so amazing! Last pday was a zone pday and I got to see my amazing mtc companion Sister Anderson! That was super exciting because I missed her a lot! The zone was playing some pickleball and this nice old man bought us all pizza! He didn't even know who we were, Kansas has the best people honestly. This week we started teaching our friend Jake! He is doing so good and loves to read the Book of Mormon with us. Jake is always so nice and he said he's trying to turn his life around and knows that we can help him. Jake really wanted to come to church this week, so we got him a ride and set everything up. But Sunday morning, Jake wasn't answering his phone:( so he didn't come to church. So it's been a really long time since I've written an email so here's an update for you guys. Since I've written last: I finished training sister glass (LOVE HER), then I was companions with Sister gunderson and had so much fun with her (I LOVE HER TOO), then I got transferred to Lawrence Kansas with Sister Rollins (LOVE HER SOOO MUCH) We had such an amazing transfer and we worked so hard! And now I'm training sister Taylor here in Lawrence and it has been amazing! I officially hit 1 year as a missionary a couple weeks ago! We have some super amazing friends we are teaching that are considering baptism right now, so please keep them in your prayers! CRAZY AWESOME MIRACLES! Inbox Lila Shumway Mon, Nov 21, 2022, 3:25 PM to me Hey everyone! This week was amazing! I am so thankful I was able to witness some miracles from God this week! Okay here we go! So we'll start with Monday. I had the feeling we should call brother and sister Martuscello, because I absolutely LOVE them! Brother Martuscello didn't pick up but that's okay (I promise this part is important later). Fast forward to Tuesday, Sister Briggs and I were out driving and we saw our friend Mallory on the side of the road walking her dog (Mallory is our amazing friend who is getting baptized either this week or next). It was definitely meant to be, so we parked our car and ran to catch up with Mallory. She tells us that she lost her job out of nowhere! But she's so faithful! She said she wasnt freaking out because she knows God has something better in store for her. Fast forward to Wednesday, brother Martuscello calls us back and asks if we know of anybody...
